Frances Luke Accord

When Nicholas Gunty and Brian Powers put their songs and voices together, there is a delicate magic that commands the room to attention. The duo is known as Frances Luke Accord, and they are what NPR’s Mountain Stage calls “the definition of lean-in music.” Their soft, contemplative vintage of indie-folk gestures toward a timelessness that honors the Simon & Garfunkel comparisons but pushes beyond into the world of Bon Iver, Jose Gonzalez, and progressive folk music.

Both raised in South Bend, IN, Gunty and Powers met and began performing together during their time at the University of Notre Dame. Their first release, Kandote, was a bold intercultural collaboration with the Barefoot Truth Children’s Choir in Uganda, a not-for-profit effort which continues to support the choir to this day. Relocating to Chicago in 2013, the duo honed their songwriting craft while releasing two more self-produced EPs, laying the groundwork for their breakthrough debut full-length, Fluke, in 2016. This immersive, philosophically rich album set them off on their first national tour, which included support dates with DarlingsideAnaïs Mitchell, and The Ballroom Thieves.

The duo's newest release, "Sunnyside EP" (2021), offers a glimpse into the body of work Frances Luke Accord have been developing in the midst of the Covid pandemic. Sunnyside EPfeatures contributions from Don Mitchell (production), Chris Dupont (electric guitar), Luke Jackson (drums), and Katie Van Dusen (violin).

Chris DuPont
Chris DuPont is a Michigan-native tunesmith, ever in search of a reassembly of the indie/folk aesthetic. His ethereal voice, diverse guitar work, and attention to ambience make his compositions a safe ground to get lost in thought and story.

DuPont's highly acclaimed 2015 album "Outlier" has been hailed by music critics as a "life affirming devastator." It's no secret that DuPont's thematic material tends toward the serious and dark, but never without a sense of hope. The unassuming vulnerability of his live performances has been charming audiences in the midwest and beyond, especially since Chris' recent nationwide 30-city tour in spring 2016. Chris was a top ten finalist in the 2013 Rocky Mountain Folks Fest songwriter competition, and a first place winner at Eddie's Attic songwriter night in April 2016.
