We've got a birthday bash coming up, and you're invited! Join UNREAL creator and host Chelsea Fiddyment (Meekling TALKS, CLLAW, Chicago Review of Books) in celebration of the sixth anniversary of Chicago's first and only fiction-focused, experimental open mic as we make our debut at Golden Dagger!
What is UNREAL? We're a reading/performance event that takes place on the third Tuesday of every month, devoted exclusively to fictional narratives and innovation in form. We encourage the sharing of all kinds of work, so long as it's entirely untrue: microfiction, a selection from a novel, character monologues, comics, as-yet-unnamed experimental and hybrid forms, whatever you can dream up. If you've got a mode of performing a part of your narrative in 7 minutes or less, we want to experience it. If your piece includes additional audio/visual components, be sure to let us know when signing up for an open mic slot so that we can do our best to accommodate.
This event is 21 and over. Any patron unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 21 years of age will not be admitted to this event.
VACCINATION POLICY: All guests that plan to stay on site are required to be fully vaccinated until further notice. You can show your physical vaccination card, a copy of your card, an email confirmation of your vaccination or a photo of your card at the door or to our baristas/bartenders. Your name or birth date must match your valid government-issued ID. Please respect our space and our staff while we continue to navigate the pandemic.
