The Phantom Broadcast
The Phantom Broadcast are an American rock band
formed in Chicago, IL, in 2013. Their sonic space is defined by introspective lyricism & expansive instrumentation coupled with euphoric dynamic peaks and melancholic trenches. They are often compared to the likes of King Crimson, The Mars Volta, Black Country, New Road, and Anathallo. In
2019, the quintet (now recently a sextet) self-released their
record, “Antiquities,” which aimed to push the boundaries of
Post-Punk with the influence and instrumentation of Baroque
Indie Rock. Via a successful Kickstarter campaign,
“Antiquities,” was self-funded and self-produced with a
limited physical release in a full color gatefold vinyl. In
addition to various small tours, The Phantom Broadcast has
shared the stage with the likes of Sima Cunningham (of
Chicago duo, Ohmme), The Gabriel Construct (featuring
members of Periphery/Darkest Hour), and the now defunct
Chicago band, Marrow. Currently, the 6-piece is in the post-
production stages of their upcoming record “Bindings,” 8
songs that feature further instrumental exploration, dark
lyrical themes inspired by both ancient and current events in thematic
cohesion. Their upcoming single, "The Practice," is a perfect encapsulation of said themes. Prepping for a huge
2023, they plan to tour again this coming
fall/winter ahead of the release of “Bindings.”
